Could you imagine learning to surf or improving your surfing at one of the most famous surfing destinations in the world? Jeffreys Bay is ranked number 2 on the CNN Travels ‘World’s 50 Best Surf Spots’. You will be enchanted by the long stretches of white sandy beaches, the warm Indian ocean and the nature reserves in the region. A perfect way to conclude a perfect day in this little surfer’s paradise is with a stroll along the unhurried streets of downtown Jeffrey’s Bay to discover cafés, restaurants, surf shops and small museums.

- Lunch and dinner in Jeffrey’s Bay are for your own account. There are numerous excellent restaurants in the Jeffrey’s Bay and meals are a fraction of the price compared to Europe. The villa also has a large kitchen and Big 5 Surf and Yoga can assist with shopping for those participants that prefer cooking some of their own meals.
- Conservation fees in Addo Elephant National Park
- All meals and refreshments in the Addo National Park are for your own account. There is an award winning restaurant on site offering breakfast , lunch and supper at incredibly reasonable price. The restaurant also offers vegan and vegetarian options. The small camp where you will stay has a communal kitchen just for the 10 residents and its possible to prepare your own meals. In the camp there is a small shop selling essentials as well.

Our Jeffrey’s Bay surf and safari retreat package includes some optional daily excursions at an additional cost. This will give you the chance to explore the spectacular beauty of this region. Each excursion will be a new adventure where we reveal some of the secrets that makes the Eastern Cape one of the most beloved tourist destinations in South Africa. Apart from the breath-taking scenery we will let you experience some of the cultural and culinary pleasures that has made this region famous.

Itinerary
DAY 1
We meet you at Port Elizabeth Airport (PLZ) and then take a one hour drive to Jeffrey’s Bay where we will have a short briefing about the schedule and the optional excursions that we will offer. ( we would prefer to depart from Port Elizabeth Airport at about 14h00 but will adjust this to fit the flight schedule of our participants)
DAY 2
After breakfast, we will head to the surf school for your first surfing lesson. You will be introduced to your instructors and be provided with your surfing gear.
The rest of the day you can spend at leisure or join one of the optional excursions in the afternoon.
DAY 3
After breakfast you will head back to the surfing school for your second surfing lesson.
The rest of the day you can spend at leisure or join one of the optional excursions in the afternoon.
DAY 4
After breakfast you will head back to the surfing school for your third surfing lesson.
The rest of the day you can spend at leisure or join one of the optional excursions in the afternoon.
DAY 5
After breakfast you will head back to the surfing school for your 4th surfing lesson.
The rest of the day you can spend at leisure or join one of the optional excursions in the afternoon.
DAY 6
After breakfast you will head back to the surfing school for your 5th surfing lesson.
The rest of the day you can spend at leisure or join one of the optional excursions in the afternoon.
DAY 7
After breakfast we will pack and depart for the Addo Elephant National Park – about an hour and a half away from Jeffrey’s Bay. Along the way we will make some brief stops at scenic locations.
In the late afternoon we will enjoy our first organised game drive in the Addo Elephant National Park.
DAY 8
Addo Elephant National Park – we are planning two game drives. At sunset when the wildlife is most active we will do a sunset drive in an open safari vehicle and return to camp for dinner after sunset.
There are hikes in Addo Elephant National Park (varying in distance from 2-7km) Addo guests may also do the self guided Discovery Trail that is a walk in a loop that starts from the Main Camp, at no cost
DAY 9
Addo Elephant National Park – we are planning two game drives. The early mornings and late afternoons are the best times for viewing wildlife since they are more active at these times.
There are hikes in Addo Elephant National Park (varying in distance from 2-7km) Addo guests may also do the self guided Discovery Trail that is a walk in a loop that starts from the Main Camp, at no cost
DAY 10
Addo Elephant National Park – today we have our last game drive in the morning before checking out of our accommodation. We return to Port Elizabeth Airport (PLZ) in the early afternoon to allow you to make your onward flight connections.

Addo Elephant National Park is the third largest game reserve in the country after recent incorporation of further adjoining land. The South African game reserve is famous among tourist for its large elephant herds that graze on the vegetation and parade in a calm manner. You can witness these marvellous creatures by simply travelling to one of the waterholes, which is a hot spot for elephants. The game reserve is also famous for viewing the Big 5.

Also an abundance of other wildlife are roaming this game park.

Do you cater for specific dietary preferences?
Absolutely! We respect your dietary choices, so please inform us of any specific requirements when you book your adventure. Our breakfasts that are offered are healthy and plant based consisting of tropical and other seasonal fruits and juices , plenty of avocado when in season, yogurt , cereals , breads , etc
Jeffrey’s Bay has a vibrant restaurant scene and most restaurants offer a selection of vegan and vegetarian options.
In Addo Elephant there is an award winning restaurant in the camp offering vegetarian and vegan options.
In both Jeffrey’s Bay and in Addo Elephant National Park guests also have access to a kitchen and shops, should you prefer to cook some of your own meals.
What is a Big 5 safari?
In Africa, the Big 5 game animals are the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant and the buffalo. The term was coined by big-game hunters to refer to the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot, but is now more widely used by game viewing tourists and safari tour operators. They are among the most famous and iconic of Africa’s large animals.

Travel Advice
Getting here
If you are travelling from Europe you are lucky as there are several direct flights daily to South Africa from most of the major cities in Europe.
Our advice would be to book a flight to the Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg (JNB) with a connecting flight to the airport in Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha (PLZ)
You also have domestic flights from all the main airports in South Africa

There are shops and restaurants within 1km from the house. Located in a well established part of Wavecrest that is pitched higher for spectacular views.
